We have a vibrant student ministry with a good mix of middle and high school students. Our pastor to students, Gary McEntire has been working with youth for about 25 years. Here is a breakdown of some of what we do as a student ministry:

Sunday School 9:45 each Sunday morning – We have just complete a multi-week study on God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit. We are currently engaged in a study on sin and are learning answers to questions such as: What is sin? Does everyone sin? At what age am I responsible for my sins? Are some sins worse than others? When we are done with this series, we will start on the subject of salvation and address questions about that topic. Eventually, we want our students to be so grounded in their core biblical beliefs that they are able to identify false teachings when they are eventually confronted with them.

Going Deeper Sunday evenings at 5:30 – On February 19th, we will begin an exciting study in the book of James. The book of James has a pretty simple premise: if you follow Christ, your life should look like it. On Sunday evenings beginning February 19th at 5:30, our students will begin a six week study on this topic. Our students will be challenged to evaluate their faith and their actions, identify where the two don’t match up, and make the necessary changes to live a life of vivid faith.

Wednesday Worship – Wednesday evenings at 6:00. This is our high energy meeting time where we incorporate games, team building exercises, music, videos and biblical teachings together to make for a meaningful mid-week worship event. This is also the time where we break off into small groups and teach the students how to develop leadership skills that they will not only use for the student ministry but which will also be carried with them for the rest of their lives.

Sunday Evening Fellowship Meal – Immediately following the our Sunday evening discipleship activities, all students and their families are invited to join us for our fellowship meal. Two Sunday’s out of each month, we enjoy a meal in the fellowship hall. The cost for this meal is either $5 per person or $15 for the whole family for the month. On the remaining Sundays, we go to a local restaurant for dinner. The cost of this outside meal is not included in the pricing above. This is just a laid back time where the students and their parents get to spend some time relaxing with each other before another hectic week begins.

Additionally, throughout the year, we involve ourselves in various mission opportunities, retreats / camps, and fundraisers. If at any point you would like to sit in on any of our events or services, we will be glad to have you. If you have any questions, please contact Gary McEntire at gary@sandyplains.org.
